Victorian Sterling Padlock Charm BraceletSKU: 8545
Lovely sterling repousse scroll work details decorate the front of the sterling heart charm padlock. The padlock secures the bracelet and can be opened with a key. The sterling bracelet links are adorned with hand chased elements. The key is attached by cotton thread that can be removed if desired.
Heart shaped clasp bracelets like this one were sometimes used as betrothal jewelry. Because this is one of a pair, it is likely that it was. During the Victorian era, wedding sets often included a pair of identical bracelets.
Queen Victoria can be credited with influencing much of fashion during her reign including popularizing charm bracelets. She was photographed in 1893 wearing one such bracelet with miniature portrait charms.
