Victorian Scottish Agate Silver Watch Chain and Horse Charm Fob
SKU: 8481A rare and wonderful example of Victorian Scottish pebble agate jewelry that became popular in the latter half of the 19th century partially due to Queen Victoria's visits to her Scotland castle. Brooches and bracelets are the most common form for this beautiful and historic jewelry but a watch chain is a rarity.
Perfect silver circles interlock to create the watch chain with two elongated links holding richly colored agate stones. A double sided fob features a horseshoe framed agate stone decorated with a horse with intricately hand tooled details.
This piece would have originally hung from a chatelaine or a pocket. The oversized spring ring would have held other ornaments.
