Toshikane Japan Arita Porcelain Nikko Toshogu Shrine Vintage Tie Tack Pin
SKU: 8784Shun-ichi Kojima and Kenzo Minami founded the Toshikane Art Porcelain Company in the early 1930s. Following World War II, their porcelain buttons and jewelry began to gain popularity, and the company continued producing these items until the 1970s. Among their most iconic creations are the “Gods of Fortune” designs. These designs and others remain sought after by vintage jewelry collectors.
This vintage tie tack pin features a beautifully detailed depiction of the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, which enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu. He was one of Japan’s most revered samurai leaders. The vibrant five-story pagoda is rendered in porcelain, showcasing a rich red glaze accented with hand-painted gold details. The scene is set against a deep black porcelain background set in silver.
Though the bottom of the original box has been lost, the top with the Toshikane information remains intact. The piece is also accompanied by its original clutch and safety chain..
