A stylized flying insect has hovers over a peridot rhinestone that mimics a flower in this charming example of a Victorian era sash pin. Leaves climb up one side with a metal flower still showing traces of its original enamel. The insect’s wings are adorned with clear sparkling rhinestones, while additional peridot rhinestones accent the frame. Gentle wear to the silver plating reveals the warm brass beneath, adding depth and visual interest to the design.
The sash pin was worn at the waist as functional adornment during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. They were at peak popularity from about 1890-1910.
