The regal Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was a favorite among royalty. It is no surprise that Queen Victoria's first dog was a King Charles Spaniel named Dash. Because of their popularity, the breed was also a popular motif for mirco mosaics like this exceptional example. The tesserae are so fine and masterfully placed it is not easy to see the individual pieces until closely inspected. A miniature and wearable work of art from the Victorian era.
