Victorian Bohemian Garnet Pin/Brooch

This layered beauty displays three tiers of glistening garnets. The garnets are rose cut pear and round shapes that extend from the center in a circular pattern on this wonderful Victorian era brooch. The setting is gilded and utilizes a c-clasp and tube hinge mechanism. Typical for the period.

The pyrope garnets were from acquired from Bohemia which was then a kingdom and now Czechoslovakia. The garnet industry in this area has a long established history and at the time this brooch was created, it was at its height.
