An earlier Los Castillo pin, this sought after design is truly remarkable to behold.  The brooch features beautifully curved foliate cones that hold a flower bud in the shape of a sphere. The pin is exquisitely crafted in sterling silver as one would expect from a Los Castillo creation.

Trained in William Spratling's shop, Antonio Castillo and his four brothers went on to open a taller that then became one of the most prominent producers of Mexican jewelry. As innovators, the Castillos introduced works of mixed metals. Their broad and distinguished body of work includes enamels and mosaics.

This particular design can be seen on page 88, in the book, 'Mexican Silver, 20th Century Hand Wrought Jewelry and Metal Work', by Penny Morrill and Carole Berk.

Date: 1950s

Measurements: 2-1/2" in diameter

Hallmarks: Los Castillo Taxco, Hecho en Mexico, 468, Eagle Stamp

Condition: Evidence of previous love can be seen with two small dents in on two of the "buds" otherwise in excellent condition.
