A native of Washington, Polly Stehman made creating beautiful jewels her life long career. She was a talented self taught artist in enameling and jewelry making. She also studied at the Cornish School of Arts.
This pair of earrings is an example of her ability to work with plique a jour enamel. Resembling stained glass, the earth tone enamels are deep yellow and reddish brown hues which fill sterling silver bubbles. In a geometric frame, the bubbles look weightless and appear suspended. Polly Stehman's mid-century modern design results in an elegant simplicity on these stunning pair of earrings.
