Brought into fashion by Queen Victoria who was mourning the passing of her beloved Albert, mourning jewelry was popular from 1860s-1900s. Because of the popularity of mourning jewelry, the organic black gemstone jet is seen often in jewelry.
Beautifully carved in jet, this lovely pin is a circle of eight detailed forget me not flowers. Each flower alternates with a sphere and all are affixed to a gold filled setting. A wonderful piece to remember a loved one.
