Ebony Wood and Lucite Impala/Gazelle Pin

The elegant beauty of an Impala or a Gazelle is rendered in hand carved ebony wood. Curved clear lucite creates the horn. The pin mechanism is securely embedded in the wood and has  roll-over clasp.

Jewelry manufacturers were confronted with a restriction on metal during the WWII years and resorted to materials such as wood, plastic, ceramic, sterling silver and leather. This pin is a wonderful example.

The pin exhibits many of the characteristics of Elzac jewelry but there are no other known examples or advertisements to definitively attribute it.
