Victorian Sterling Padlock Charm Bracelet

The sterling bracelet links are adorned with hand chased elements. The key is attached by cotton thread that can be removed if desired.
Heart shaped clasp bracelets like this one were sometimes used as betrothal jewelry. Because this is one of a pair, it is likely that it was. During the Victorian era, wedding sets often included a pair of identical bracelets.
Queen Victoria can be credited with influencing much of fashion during her reign including popularizing charm bracelets. She was photographed in 1893 wearing one such bracelet with miniature portrait charms.
